Read about the restaurant and chef Suleiman in Dallas Magazine and decided to give it a try…and we are so glad we did. Nice place, good service and great flavorful food. Thank you for making our first experience with Gambian food memorable PS: Our server was kind enough to explain everything on the menu in detail which helped. We also spoke to chef Suleiman and he recommended a few dishes that we will try the next time we are here.

Food was delicious! We got Chicken Yassa, Beef Benachin, Meat Pie, Fried Plantains, with Pineapple Ginger and Baoba drink! Chicken Yassa was super delicious, my son whos a picky eater didn’t complain one bit but instead even complemented chef Sulaiman! Beef Beef Benachin was good as well but the rice was spicy so be careful. Meat pie was pretty good abut the sauce was the star. I highly recommend the pineapple ginger drink but my husband enjoyed the Baoba more. Baoba was new to us, we have never heard or tasted the fruit before so we’re very excited and really enjoyed it! As far as service goes, they messed up our order which delayed our food. We entered the restaurant at 9:07pm, ordered within mins since we already knew what we wanted. We got chicken Yassa at 9:45 and didn’t get rest of the food till 10:20. Chef apologized and explained that due to a catering order the food got missed and gave us the meat pie and plantains on the house. I enjoyed the food and was excited to try halal African food but was disappointed with order management.

This is a truly unique restaurant serving some seriously delicious food. Their Chicken Yasa and Beef Benachin tasted extremely authentic and cooked to perfection. Their portion size is very generous. Their ginger pineapple drink is really fresh. I highly recommend this place. This place is really underrated and deserves more people to come and check it out. Their customer service is really nice. They're also Halal.

Sorry I forgot to take pictures right away. I am Mexican and to my palate the best tasting dish was the Benachin (if you’re White you might like it too, it’s just like pot roast). The meat on the Benachin looked iffy, like little overcooked beef rocks but it was tender and moist and delicious and so were the vegetables. The rest of the dishes we ordered were just either very intense flavors or completely plain. The chicken wings are a very safe bet as far as flavor and seasoning (very neutral) well grilled but a bit boring. The chef was very nice. The seating is a little uncomfortable, but I love that they are trying. Would eat the Benachin again!!! Ps. The meat pies are pretty good too, ground beef, just a little greasy.
